I am sorry this is so late today. I had some issues I had to deal with today. Nothing too stressful, but it needed my attention. I didn't have time to write a full post, so I am posting a cute Dodo video so you can post your photos. Enjoy!

Post a Pup Sundays! What is a Sealyham Terrier? Can Best in Show Stache Revive the Breed? Post Photos, Memes, Videos and Pup Stuff.

The dapper Sealyham Terrier Stache strutted his stuff and took home the crown at the 2023 National Dog Show! This little guy, with the big personality, showed those judges what he's made of, outshining the competition with his spunk and style. Handled by the talented Margery Good, Stache wowed the crowd and made history as the first Sealyham Terrier to claim the Best in Show title. With a registered name like GCHP Goodspice Efbe Money Stache, had to win. He is so adorable I decided to write about the rare terrier and find out more about this breed that barely anyone knows about.  The Sealyham Terrier originated in Wales and was developed between 1850 and 1891 by Captain John Edwardes at Sealyham House, near Wolfscastle in Pembrokeshire. Edwardes wanted to create a small white terrier with a strong jaw and wiry coat that could be used to hunt small game and eliminate vermin-like badgers.  The exact ancestry of the Sealyham is unknown since Edwardes did not keep detailed breeding rec

Post A Pup Sundays! The Wonderful Australian Shepherd. Post photos, memes, videos, stories or anything pup.

The Australian Shepherd breed has a complex history with multiple theories about its origins. The breed's earliest roots can be traced back to the white-washed adobe missions established by the Conquistadors in the New World in the 1500s. As it is known today, the breed developed in California in the 19th century as a sheep herding dog for Californian shepherds. Despite its name, the Australian Shepherd is not actually Australian, and its progenitors came from the Basque region of the Pyrenees between Spain and France. Australian Shepherds are medium-sized dogs with a moderately long, double coat that can be straight or wavy. They are intelligent, energetic, and loyal, making them typically eager to please and easy to train. Aussies have a strong work ethic, are affectionate towards their families, and love them intensely. However, they can be reserved with strangers but are generally friendly and social once they warm up and decide you are also friendly. This breed tends to have a

Post a Pup Sundays! The Healing Power of Dogs. Post your pup, share stories, memes, photos or videos.

I believe in the power of empathy and compassion. I believe we live in a world with much too little of it. Hurt people hurt people. If we were able to reach people in prison and find their humanity, then imagine what pups can do for the loneliest souls who need love and to feel needed.  I have spoken about my emotional service dogs. They are as loved as my human children, as essential as oxygen, and understand me in the deepest way that no words can explain. A change in my voice, the speed of my pulse, or a foot tapping lets them know to ground me, touch me, comfort me, or lay on my feet. I have one that goes everywhere, and I mean everywhere I go. If I travel for work, so does my dog. If we go on a holiday, so does my dog. We are symbiotic. He would protect me with his life, and I would do the same. If you have any issues that make life a little painful, or you have social anxiety or PTSD, consider training one for yourself. I go to a specific trainer who knows my issues and trains on

Post a Pup Sundays! Dachshunds! Photos, Memes, and Pup stuff.

The dachshund is a dog breed of hound and terrier ancestry developed in Germany and was initially bred to scent, chase, and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals. It is believed that the smooth dachshund gave rise to both the long-haired and the wire-haired varieties. The breed was required to go to the ground and flush out prey, and those cute little legs were bred to be effective when they did their job. It is hard to imagine those little pups as hunters, but they are, as their owners know they also use this instinct to steal socks and other items they can carry.  Nico from Velvet Underground The dachshund is described as clever, lively, and courageous to the point of rashness. Dachshunds consistently rank among the 10 most popular dog breeds, and their playfulness, adaptability, and moderate energy levels make them excellent family dogs. They are good with children as long as they know how to handle them and often get along well with other dogs as long as the other dog

Post a Pup Sunday! Art: Ladies and their canine companions (1500-1878)

Image
This is to remind everyone that we are doing every other week for Pup Sundays and the same for Caturdays. So if Caturday Saturday is up, it means the Pups will be the following week. This gives people a chance to plan something to share with everyone.  Today, I wanted to share some examples of different styles of art that showcase our canine friends and truly a lady's best friend in so many ways. Animals can heal the heart and provide unconditional love; we can give the same back without restraints. It is easy to see why they inspire such devotion and inspiration. 1532/33 Portrait Of a Lady with a Lapdog, Bronzino 1665 Portrait of a Lady with a Lapdog, Rembrandt c.1769  Marie Emilie Coignet de Courson ,  Jean Honoré Fragonard 1768/69  Portrait of Madame Freret Déricour, Joseph Siffred Duplessis 1782 Lady Hamilton as Nature, George Romney (she is a scandalous woman with an interesting but tragic life-Emma Hamilton it is worth reading about for history buffs or feminists) 1790/91 A Y

Post A Pup Sundays! Carole Lombard edition. Post anything canine-pics, memes, art, or stories. All are welcomed.

Carole Louise Lombard (October 6, 1908 – January 16, 1942) is known today as one of the great stars of Hollywood's Golden Era and one of the best comedic actresses among her peers. She had perfect timing, loads of quirky charm and beauty, and an ability to captivate audiences as plucky heroines in screwball and slapstick American comedies. Her Career Girl characters often reflected Carole's independent spirit and feminist beliefs. Unlike the sirens and the great beauties who relied on their looks for success, she was clever, had business acumen, knew how to negotiate her contracts, knew what her audiences expected of her, and chose her roles wisely. She is also known for her passionate megawatt marriage to Clark Cable (Brangelina but with better actors and less pretension)and her tragic death in a plane crash at 33.  Carole's birth name was Jane Alice Peters, and she was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to wealthy but unhappily married parents. Carole was six when they finally

Post A Pup Sundays! Bette Davis

Image
Better known as Bette Davis, Ruth Elizabeth Davis was born on April 5th, 1908, in Lowell, Massachusetts. Her parents separated when she was 15, and her mother took her and her younger sister to New York City to be a portrait photographer. Surprisingly, Bette faced a lot of rejection at first after making her way to Hollywood. One studio considered terminating her contract because they didn't find her particularly interesting or memorable. A cinematographer disagreed, saying he thought she had lovely eyes, and they decided to keep her. It was a slow start. Later, she recounted how modest and virginal she had been, a true Yankee girl not ready for the racy world of cinema. After six films that failed to attract attention, she was let go and was heading back to New York when actor George Arliss chose her as the lead in The Man Who Played God, 1932. It was her big break; she was signed for a five-year contract with Warner Bros. and remained there for 18 years. Her career might have sta
