WEEKEND MORNING COFFEE: The Deaner Is A Cheap Date. Michelle Williams Narrates Britney. LeVar Is A Much Better Choice. Rudolph Isley Has Died.

Three more days until my visiting family leave. I love them a lot and enjoy their visits, but I want my peace and quiet back. It's draining to be "on" all the time. Plus my dog is tired of not being able to sit in her favorite chair in front of the TV. She's been giving me the evil eye. I know she's thinking, "Hey, aren't you going to say something? They're on my damn chair again".

Enjoy this collection of random nonsense to kick-start your weekend.

► America's favorite opossum, Dean McDermott, was seen with new girlfriend as they walked hand-in-hand to the Los Angeles County Welfare office. Wait a sec: is the welfare office the new hot spot for a blooming romance? BTW, in case you care, the Deano is currently renting a house with 4 other roommates. And no, they are not his kids. Comment: Why is his girlfriend dressed like a member of  a pit crew at a demolition derby? Is the Deaner collecting welfare? What about Tori? Is this a stunt for a reality show they're cooking up -  which would explain why the paps were at the welfare office. Or are they trying to shame Candy Spelling to giving them money?  Sooo many questions.

► Michelle Williams will be narrating the Britney Spears memoir, The Woman In Me. Britney will gargle out the book's intro and Michelle will narrate the audio book. The book will hit the stores October 24.  If the book contains some of the enlightening quotes Britney has given over the years (like the one below) how in the hell will Michelle keep a from laughing? A check is a check.  Read More

Comment: I wonder how many "hey y'all", or "oops, my bad I did it again" Michelle is going to end up reading.  It could turn into a drinking game.

► LeVar Burton will be the host for the 74th Annual National Book Awards after Drew Barrymore was told by organizers to take a hike when she resumed filming of her daytime show in the middle of the writer's strike. The ceremony will be on November 15. Read More

Comment: LeVar should have been asked in the first place. He's a waaaaay better choice than Drew. LeVar was the long time host of Reading Rainbow, has published 3 books, a long time supporter of authors, and an advocate for children's reading programs.  Excellent choice!

► Rudolph Isley, one of the co-founders of the Isley Brothers, has died. He was 84. No cause of death was mentioned in the family's statement. He and his 2 brothers formed the group as teenagers in 1954 when they were living in Cincinnati. Their hits include "Shout", "Twist and Shout", "That Lady", and "It's Your Thing".  Condolences to his family. Read More

Comment: The Isley Brothers were a prominent R&B group who made a huge impact on the music scene. They are one of the few musical groups ever to have hit the Billboard Chart Hot 100  with new music in six different decades.  Their 1959 hit "Shout" had a resurgence in 1978 when it was featured in the movie "Animal House" and performed by the fictional band Otis Day & The Knights.

► Are the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills about to get a new member? Producers of the show are eyeing Christine Baumgartner, better known as the ex-Mrs. Kevin Costner, to join the season 14 cast.  If this does happen, expect Lisa Rinna to sharpen her claws and be even more unbearable.  Read More

Comment: I'm not putting a lot of stock on this report. I think it's wishful thinking on the show's producers part. Lisa Rinna would have a hissy fit and a nuclear meltdown if anyone stole her spotlight.
