EVENING NIGHTCAP: Faux Fox News Complains of Sketch Artists Covering Their Idol. Rob Lowe A Game Show Host. New Edition Is Back.

► Actor Rob Lowe can add game show host to his IMDB list of career accomplishments and resume. He will be the host of a new game show, The Floor. It will premier on January 2 on Fox. Wait a sec: That's the name? Is it about celebs scrubbing floors? Or going up & down an elevator for cash? NOPE.  According the the press release, "the show is a physical, trivia quiz show that has 81 contestants face-off in quiz levels on a giant LED floor divided into a hundred equal squares, each representing its own field of knowledge". Huh?  I don't get it. The grand prize is $250,000.  Read More

Comment: The show sounds like a mashup of Jeopardy and Who Wants to be a Millionaire. They probably dusted off the floor used in the movie Saturday Night Fever which had lighted tiled floor. In the publicity photo above, Rob looks like he rolled about of bed and decided it was monochromatic wardrobe day. Between his disheveled hair and his unshaven face, he looks like he's a phone call away from begging to host Oscars again and resurrect the infamous 1989 singing and dance routine with Snow White. If you've never seen it, here you go. Be sure to have a barf bag or bucket nearby.

► Guess who's getting a Las Vegas residency? New Edition. Remember them? The 1980s group will kick off their Vegas residency February 2024 at the conference room of Motel 6 at The Encore. Members of the group - Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown (aka Mr. Whitney Houston), Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, Ronnie DeVoe, and Ricky Bell will reunite to perform their hits. According to the group they are reuniting because  of "countless requests from fans". Um, yea...I don't believe it. And  BTW, bots are not fans. The group hasn't released any new music since 2004. Tickets start at $79. Read More

Comment: Back in the 1980s, I enjoyed some of their music. It was catchy R&B. But that was 35+ years ago. Seeing a group of middle aged dudes gasping and weezing on stage to relive their youth isn't my idea of fun. Hard pass for me.  I prefer listen to them on my CD (hey, don't judge me for having a CD player).

► Elizabeth Williams, one of the court artists covering the Trump trial, is getting criticized by Faux Fox News for her images depicting the orange Mussolini. She said, "this dumping on court artists has become part of the business".  Personally, I like the way she's capturing the lying, scheming, degenerate ahole and his kids during the trial. If you recall in a previous post, I reported that Don Jr. had the audacity to ask the court artists to "make me look sexy" when he testified. Read More

Comment:  The sketch artists are capturing the evil and soullessness of this family very well. I can't wait to see how they draw Ivanka.  I hope it looks something like this:
