OPEN POST: Check out this Pink Pond in Hawaii

No, this isn't part of the seemingly never-ending Barbie promo! Kealia Pond, located in Maui, has been a beautiful shade of pink the last few weeks. Residents have been left baffled as to why this pond has taken on such an unusual hue, and scientists at the US Fish and Wildlife Service believe it is due to halobacteria which is found in waters with high salinity. Due to recent drought conditions, the pond has gone undiluted by rain, which is causing the phenomenon we see. Wow, another perk of climate change!
