OPEN POST: This 116-Year-Old Woman

The "dear god what did I do to deserve this" face you see above is that of Tomiko Itooka, the oldest living person in Japan who turned 116 years old on Thursday. Born May 23, 1908, she is the second oldest person living in the world, with the number one spot belonging to a member of Congress, I would assume. Either way, it's safe to say this woman has seen more than enough of the world's fuckery in her excruciatingly long lifetime.

And to give you some perspective, here are her ages during some of the world's biggest events over the last 100 years:

  • Age 7: The first long-distance telephone service between New York & San Francisco is demonstrated - January 25, 1915
  • Age 11: The Prohibition Era begins - January 17, 1920
  • Age 24: Air conditioning is invented - 1932
  • Age 33: Pearl Harbor Bombing - December 7, 1941
  • Age 47: The Vietnam War begins - November 1, 1955
  • Age 55: JFK is assassinated - November 22, 1963
  • Age 65: Watergate - 1973
  • Age 81: The Berlin Wall falls - November 9, 1989
  • Age 90: Google is launched - 1998
  • Age 97: Facebook is launched - 2005

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go read up on what this woman's secret to a long life is so I can avoid doing it.
