Post A Pup Sundays: Eddie, the dog from Frasier
In the TV show Frasier, the adorable little dog Eddie was played by two Jack Russell Terriers: Moose and his son Enzo. Moose, who started the role, appeared from the show's beginning in 1993 until the end of its eighth season in 2000. Moose was known for his incredible training and ability to do many tricks. He was so popular that Moose even got more fan mail than the human actors, which is no surprise. The only problem is that people ran out and got Jack Russells, not realizing how independent and rambunctious they could be. They need plenty of exercise, and let's face it, not everyone is prepared to run their dog for an hour or two a day.
Moose's incredible journey from a troubled pup to a much-loved TV star is really inspiring. Born on December 24, 1990, in Florida, Moose's first family found him way too energetic and hard to handle. That's when a trainer named Mathilde de Cagny adopted him. After only six months of training, Moose landed the role of Eddie in Frasier, where he stole the show with his comedic antics, especially his silent stares at Frasier Crane, played by Kelsey Grammer.
After Moose retired, his son Enzo, born in July 1995, took over the role of Eddie for the rest of the series. Enzo was bred specifically as a potential replacement for Moose. He looks a lot like his dad, which helps keep the character consistent. Enzo also did more physically demanding stunts as Moose got older and became a senior canine who had captured the hearts of fans of the show.
Moose and Enzo left a lasting impression on the show and its fans. Moose passed away in 2006 at the age of 15, and Enzo died in 2010 at the age of 14. They are dearly remembered by the fans who loved Frasier.
