OPEN POST: Japanese Tattoos and Get Inked Already Bonnie Parker!!!
I have no tattoos. It was surprising for an artist/musician with a penchant for underground/alternative/indie vibes, but it was mostly because I saw so few I liked enough to want it on my body forever. I sketched some, painted some, illustrated some, and even designed some for others (including a boyfriend, loads of friends, my dad, and my ghey husband). But I shied away when it came to me; what if I robbed a bank? I would tell myself they would identify me through my tattoo! It was just an excuse to chicken out; I feared a mistake, the pain, and growing out of loving what I had loved before. And I am no Bonnie Parker, so robbing banks was not even a remote possibility, but still, what if?
I have been looking at
some and liking the skill and how lovely it looks when a skilled artist
does the work. I started by looking at Yakuza tattoos, which are
actually illegal in Japan. Then I saw some others and from there others.
I don't know; maybe I will take the plunge and incorporate my kids into
one, not their faces, little nods to my love for them. I may include my
lost furbaby, Tavi, whose loss is still devastating. But then I have
others that would fill up my entire leg, so maybe a symbol for them all,
with a little T for my precious boy.
I found some to share that
I have seen from StyleCraze, and I keep looking there. I don't want
what someone else has, but for a 45th birthday present, I would go big
on my thigh or shoulder. It gives me time to plan and also time to
change my mind.
Here are some designs I liked. How many tattoos do you have, and do you love them? Do you have any regrets? Do you want more?
