PROGRAMMING NOTE: New Year's Holiday Weekend

Image
2023 is in the rear view mirror and quickly fading like into obscurity like Chuck E. Cheese, Ezra Miller's career, or Walmart Wallis & Prince Waaagh.  BTW, I just realized that 2024 is a leap year. Oh goody. An extra day of laundry and having to deal with stoopid people - like the Gen Zer I wrote about a while back who thought Alaska was an island. Her reasoning? Because that's how maps in high school depict it.  If you're that clueless you need to get off the planet. Over the next few days we will be occasionally posting in-between holiday weekend horseplay. I'm spending it curled up with a heating pad, channel surfing, and reminiscing about the good old days when I didn't moan when getting up from a chair.  On behalf of all of us at PW Manor, we wish you, your pets, and families a safe New Year!

PROGRAMMING NOTE: Holiday Schedule

The holidays are here. It's the time of year when you bite your tongue, roll your eyes pretending to like that crappy gift someone gave you. Then you secretly plot how the heck you're going to re-gift it or shove it in the back of the closet until it's time to bring out when the person who gave it to you comes over asking "hey, where's that gift I gave you"?  Yea, I'm speaking from experience.   One of the most unusual holiday gifts I have received happened many, many years ago. It was a bottle of wine that was about 5 feet tall statue - I think it was supposed to be Bacchus the Roman/Greek god of wine. I appreciated the gesture but wow...it made my eyes roll internally. It was next to impossible to pour it because of it's shape.  And when I did manage to siphon a glass out of it, it literally tasted like the grapes were stomped on by donkeys with foot odor. It was cheap crappy wine. That swill made Boones Farm look like Dom Perignon. The image below S

PROGRAMMING NOTE: Thanksgiving Is Next Week!

Image
It's been 145 days, or about 4 months, since Peckerwood Manor opened its hallowed doors and moist legs to you fine-ass hors. And just like that...we're coming up on Thanksgiving. Can you believe? Whoever thought we'd make it this far? But we have, Blanche, we have. With that in mind, next week - or the rushed lead-up and bleary-eyed come down from Thanksgiving Day - there'll likely be fewer original posts, since many of your esteemed Pecker writers and mods will be traveling to be with friends and family (or more likely huddled in a dirty corner with cheesy, freshly baked scalloped potatoes) (which they intend to share with no one). However, there will be definitely be "Open Posts" and "Caption This!" posts. Huzzah!  If you're in Europe-land or elsewhere, and you're not celebrating Thanksgiving, please think kindly of your 'Murican Peckers, some of whom will be forced to go to those steaming, chunky piles of caca known as airports, or stu
