Jamie Lee Curtis Wants To Be "Switzerland" In The Actor's Strike!

Jamie Lee Curtis, who stole her Oscar win from Angela Bassett (I said what I said) (come for me), let out a big Activa™ shart when she commented on the ongoing fight between striking actors and the richy-rich mega-corporations at AMPTP, telling Variety, "I hope that I can be Switzerland in all this. I don’t like the rhetoric on both sides. I don’t like the 'them vs. us.'" So sort of like Switzerland during WWII, which is where the Nazis hid their looted gold and cash. Great analogy, Jamie Lee! Neutrality is always the best choice. Or not, because the pushback was quick and nasty from striking actors, SAG-AFRTA and the press.

Naturally, Jamie Lee walked back her statement lickety-split with a big "sowwy," saying her comments were "misconstrued," adding, "I have volunteered (to) make SAG-AFTRA signs multiple times!" This was in an Instagram post with the actor holding up one of the signs she presumably made, and with Melanie Griffith at her side wearing stunning fingerless black gloves.

So we good, right? I mean, she's making signs - that's hard labor! - and it's not like she's ever opened her mouth and put her foot in it before. Just don't count that time she said of Cuban-born Ana de Armas, "I made an assumption that she was an inexperienced, unsophisticated young woman." Because she was "from Cuba," she noted. What? If you aren't born in America, it's natural to assume that you are a tacky, classless rube.

And let's not forget her lashing out at the term, "Nepo Baby," which she angrily declared is "designed to diminish and denigrate and hurt! I'm so sick of people blaming nepotism for why they aren't rich!" I feel you, Jamie. And this gal agrees:

Or that time she stated, “There are two sides to every story!” about footage of a Native American elder and the menacing high school students sporting MAGA hats looming over him in D.C., echoing Trump's "There are very fine people on both sides" comments about the violent clash between racist marchers and their counter-protestors.

But, really, rich white lady gonna rich white lady, and Curtis certainly isn't the only person to say-stupid with respect to the actors strike. Revered Christian anti-vaxxer Zachary Levi said the strike rules were "So dumb!" then later claimed that his comments were "Taken about of context." So we good, right? And Stephen Amell, who defended the State of Texas after they racially profiled and arrested a 14 year-old Muslim student - and was kicked off a plane for screaming at his wife, and once remarked, "I'm Canadian. Racism is something that's really difficult for me to understand!" - went so far as to say that he did not support the actors strike at all, but swiftly backtracked, saying his comments were "Misinterpreted!" Again, we good right?

Now I'm not saying that Jamie Lee should be lumped in with wackadoodle far-right Christians or extremist Republicans or anti-vaxxers - because she's most definitely none of those things - but let this be a lesson to her. Or rather, follow the golden rule: "Actors Should Not Talk Off-Script." No, really. Unless you walk-the-walk like Jane Fonda, I do not need to hear about your  political endorsements, your comments about income inequality, or any hot-button issue unless it directly and personally affects you. You are not helping, Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn. In public, just do as your betters do. Be the fantasy. Look fabulous.
