EVENING NIGHTCAP: Trailer For Mean Girls Reboot. Young Sheldon Is Ending. Chuck E Cheese Animantronics Thrown To The Dumpster. Tesla Reverses Decision. Jimmy Is Hosting...Again.

► The trailer for the reboot / remake / rehash of 2004 Mean Girls has been released. The tagline for it is "this isn't your mother's Mean Girls". Um, okay. The reboot is actually based on the Broadway musical. Tina Fey wrote the screenplay and will reprise her role as the math teacher, along with Tim Meadows as the principal. Angourie Rice will play Cady; Renee Rapp as Regina George. The movie also stars Jon Hamm, Jenna Fisher, and Busy Phillips.  The movie will be released in theaters January 12, 2024. The trailer is below.  Read More

Comment:  The original 2004 movie was a fun watch. Why someone decided to turn it into a Broadway musical is a mystery that ranks up there with Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot, and UFOs.  It made no sense to me. And, now the musical has been turned into an movie no one was asking for. No thanks. BTW, fans of the Broadway musical noticed the movie doesn't feature any of the songs. And  you know what? I still don't care.

► Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting The Oscars on March 10, 2024.  This will be his 4th time hosting the yawn inducing award ceremony for Hollywood to pat itself on the back and for actors / directors  / producers to share in the mutual adoration of each other. Since Will Smith has been banned from the Oscars for last year's slap-gate, I'm sure it will return to the Zzzquill fest it's always been.  Read More

Comment: I'm still surprised that Kimmel has a career. The dude was on The Man Show which was a sexist, misogynistic bowl of tripe of unfunny jokes and skits that he co-hosted with Adam Corolla.  I find it irksome (yet hilarious) that he tries to pass himself off these days as some respectable intellect while distancing himself from his Man Show days. IMO, he's still the immature, stunted, unfunny dweeb from back then...except now he wears a suit.

► Young Sheldon, the sitcom spin off of The Big Bang Theory, is calling it quits after 7 seasons. The final episode will air February 15, 2024 and it will be a one hour special. Iain Armitrage, who plays Young Sheldon will be 16 years old so... yea, it's time for the show to end before it turns into Old Sheldon.  Read More

Comment: I never watched this show because I despise the Big Bang Theory. I tried watching BBT a few times but I found the characters irritating, and the acting from every cast member shallow. The show's writing was sophomoric, and the laugh track grating. To this day I have no idea why people thought BBT was a good show. It sucked.

► The end of an era at Chuck E. Cheese. The company announced they're getting rid of the animantronic bands in their restaurants. Only one location in California will have the band because it's being called a "nostalgic site"....whatever that means. The other 400 locations will undergo renovations to include a dance floor, kid-focused arcade games, video wall and screens, and in some locations - trampolines! Yes, because having kids jump on a trampoline after stuffing their faces with pizza, soda and candy is a good idea. *cue the bucket & mop to clean up projectile vomit.  Read More

Comment:  The animatronic band should have gotten a new manager. They needed to update their look and music to play more rock & roll or 80's new wave, but that's my opinion. They would have made a Flock of Seagulls tribute band. Anyway, the animatronics are what defined Chuck E. Cheese so I'm bummed they're being kicked to the curb. I'd like to know what they're going to do with them. It be kinda fun to own one and put it on my front porch.

► Tesla is now back tracking on their decision to sue anyone who dares to sell their precious Mad Max meets Delorean monstrosity cybertruck within the first year of purchase. The clause in the sale agreement that threatened legal action has vanished from the sales contract. Industry experts (a.k.a. anyone BUT Elon and Tesla fan boys) suspect it was removed because the frankentruck may not generate the high sales that Elon bragged that it would. In other words, Tesla is getting a clue that the truck may be a flop. The e-version of the Edsel. Or Segway. Read More

Comment: If you have the money to buy that butt ugly can of Spam on 4 wheels and want to flip it - have at it.  Tesla doesn't seem to give a shit anymore.
