OPEN POST: Hosted by the Northgate Mall Christmas Tree
Picture it: Seattle, 1950. The Northgate shopping mall just opened, and the owners really wanted it to stand out for the holiday season. But how? Well, the world's largest Christmas tree, of course! So, they inspected over a thousand trees before choosing a 212-foot-tall Douglas Fir tree weighing over 50,000 lbs and estimated to be over 280 years old! The Fir was a native of Enumclaw, Washington, and travelled 70 miles to its final home at Northgate Mall. The evergreen still maintains a world record for being the tallest cut Christmas tree. Happy December, Peckers!
