EVENING NIGHTCAP: Mo'Nique Goes Scorched Earth. Cindy's Nepo Baby Lands TV Series.

 

 

► Academy award winning actress Mo'Nique is telling the world she has the receipts of how Tyler Perry (and Oprah) had her blacklisted from Hollywood.  At an appearance on "Club Shay Shay" podcast, she claims to have an audio recording of Tyler Perry admitting he started the rumor about her being difficult to work with.  Her beef with Oprah goes back years ago when the Queen of Gab overstepped into Mo'Nique's life by having her pervy brother, Gerald, on Oprah's show. Mo'Nique claims Gerald molested her when they were kids.  She refused to go on the show because she did not want to sensationalize her family issues for Oprah's ratings. She claims that Oprah was going to cancel his appearance but she didn't. This infuriated Mo'Nique and it led to her throwing shade at Oprah.  BUT WAIT! Comment:  The old saying, "the truth lies somewhere in the middle" applies to this mess.  I do believe that Mo'Nique was blacklisted by Hollywood in the same manner as other actors with claims of being difficult to work with. The definition of "difficult" is vague and covers a wide range of behavior.  From an actor seeking perfection in performances (i.e. Jeremy Irons, Charlize Theron) to jerk behavior by actors on the set. Look at Christian Bale. He has a notorious reputation for being difficult (and a jerk on set). In Mo'Nique's case, she may (or may not be) difficult to work with. Who knows. In her defense (and I am not a Mo'Nique fan), other actors have exhibited truly awful behavior and they keep getting hired.  I believe there's some truth to her claims against Tyler Perry and Oprah. They are 2 extremely powerful people in the industry who can make or break careers with a phone call.  Sadly, there's consequences to be paid if you speak out against powerful people.

►Nepo baby Kaia Gerber (22), daughter of Cindy Crawford will be starring in a new AppleTV+ series, "Palm Royale".  The series will also feature Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Mindy Cohn (from Facts of Life), Josh Lucas, Ricky Martin, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robison; and special guest appearances by Carol Burnett. Comment: Let's hope Kaia is a better actress than her mom. Cindy tried to switch from modeling to acting with gawd awful results. Cindy has no natural talent and was horrible. Years later I'm still pissed that I spent $0.99 cents at Blockbuster Video to rent, "Fair Game"with her and Billy Baldwin. Blockbuster should have paid me to watch that mess. When I returned it, I asked for a refund. I recalled they said something to the effect, "you rented it, your problem".
