WEEKEND MORNING COFFEE: RIP Carl Weathers. Julia Fox To Co-Host New Fashuuun Show. Today's Edition of "Um...Who's Dis?"
♦ Actor and gifted athlete, Carl Weathers, has died. He was 76. No cause of death was released in the family statement. As an actor, he was best known for portraying Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" movies with Sylvester Stallone. Carl supposedly got the role when, during audition, he criticized Stallone's acting. He was immediately cast. Other big screen movies he starred in include Happy Gilmore, the original 1987 Predator, Action Jackson, and Little Nicky. On TV, his acting credits include The Mandalorian, The Shield, Chicago Justice, and Arrested Development. Before pivoting to acting, Carl was a gifted athlete who excelled in numerous sports including boxing, gymnastics, soccer, wresting, and football. As a college athlete, he played football with San Diego State University. Carl also earned a Bachelor's degree in Drama and a Master's degree in Theater Arts. He became a professional football player with the NFL and played with the Oakland Raiders for a few years. Carl is survived by his 2 sons. Read More

Comment: I can sum up Carl in 3 words: Smart, funny, and athletic. When I look back on Rocky, he was the perfect person to play Apollo Creed. His athleticism combined with his intellect and acting talents provided a wonderful portrayal of Apollo Creed. To this day, I cannot think of anyone who could have matched his skills. Personally, he should have been nominated in 1976 for Best Supporting Actor by the Academy Awards for his role as Apollo Creed. Condolences to his family.
♦ The queen of Dumpster Fire Couture, Julia Fox, will be co-hosting a new design show competition, "OMG Fashun" on E!. She will be joined by celeb stylist Law Roach (whose name sounds like an exterminator who moonlights as a public defender). It will premier on May 6. The premise of the show is for 3 fashuuun disruptors (designers) to compete against each other using unconventional materials selected by Julia. This is code for using junk from an alley dumpster. The winning piece of crap will win $10,000 and be modeled by Julia. Read More

Comment: I can envision the 3 designers (oh...pardon me...I meant to say disruptors) being given a literal bag of garbage by Julia and told, "You have one hour to create something fabulous out of beer cans, a dirty diaper, a greasy bag from Arby's, twist ties, banana peels, and discarded dental floss".
♦ In "Oprah...Who's Dis?": Actress Mira Sorvino looked, um...different at an event held a few days ago for the American Heart Association in New York City. I don't know what's going on here and I'm afraid to ask. I know a person's face changes as they get older but...um...well you be the judge. Did someone take her previously cute face and use a tire jack to lift her eyebrows then finished it off with a milkshake of fillers? Why??? Read More
Comment: From the neck down, she looks amazing and in healthy shape. If she's messing with her face, she needs to stop. Just age gracefully. There are numerous celebs who are aging very well with no enhancements or very minimal. A few that come to mind include Sigourney Weaver, Helen Mirren, Sheila E., Julianne Moore, Rita Moreno, and Angela Basset.
