OPEN POST: With The Wine O'Clock Marathon Runner!
Wine hors, you've met your match! Tom Gilbey just did The London Marathon, but with a touch of boozy savoir faire. "Quoi?" you ask.
Allow me to explain. While running and raising money for Sobell House Hospice - in tribute to his dearly departed mum, since Sobell cared for her during her final days - Tom decided to up the ante by knocking back a glass of wine at every single one mile mark, and identifying the wine by type and year before continuing. That's every mile - meaning 25 glasses of wine for 25 miles of running. He made it to the finish line, too, thank you very much.
Many were duly impressed. "I'd be hammered by stop 7," marveled one. "The running whilst drunk is impressive," noted another, "but I don't think many people realize how insane it is how many of his wine guesses were correct. As a sommelier, I salute you!"
So in addition to being able to hold his liquor, it turns out that Tom also has a discerning palate, because the majority of guesses - 21 out of 25! - were mostly correct. Can you believe? All that while raising a whopping £12,000.00 (or about $14,000.00 in 'Murican moolah) for Sobell House. By the way, ladies, he's reportedly straight, swingle and owns his own popular wine shop in London. Let's convince MFleurette to check him out!
