EVENING NIGHTCAP: Noooo...Not Spaceballs! Royal Ascot Fashuuun. Gayle Defends Justin.

►One of the funniest comedies of the 1980's had to be "Spaceballs".  It came out in 1987 and it was a spoof of Star Wars. The movie starred John Candy, Daphne Zuniga, Bill Pullman, Rick Moranis, and Mel Brooks (Mel also directed it).  What I liked about it was the deadpan humor and the hilarious reinterpretation of Star Wars. Well, say goodbye to your fond memories of this beloved movie as it was announced today the greedy mofos at Amazon MGM Studios are making a sequel/reboot/rehash.  It will star Josh Gad and will be directed by Josh Greenbaum (who directed "Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar").  Mel Brooks (who's 97) will be serving as producer/consultant. Ugh, just leave this gem of a movie alone.  Read More

Comment:  The original Space Balls had so many funny lines and memorable moments. My favorite character was John Candy who portrayed "Barf" - a Chewbacca-type character.  Rick Moranis played the evil Dark Helmet (aka Darth Vader) and he nailed the performance.  I'm disappointed that Mel Brooks  has given his blessing for this. But, I guess a check is a check. I'm going to tell myself Mel needs the money for dentures or new tennis balls for his walker.

► Royal Ascot kicked off yesterday and the ridiculousness of hats and fascinators did not disappoint.  Below are some that caught my watchful eye.  Princess Catherine did not attend, but Prince Wills, King Chuckles, and Queen Camilla were there.  Queen Cam's facial expression below looks like she farted and hopes that no one heard or smelled it.   Read More

Comment:  If I get the chance to go to Ascot, I'm going to wear a big cheese hat. Or a big foam cowboy hat with glitter, rhinestones, and a beer siphon as my way to glam things up.

► Gayle King has no damn clue when to keep her blow hole shut because she has such a HUGE sense of entitlement.  On today's "CBS This Morning", Gayle went on a Karen-esque rant to fiercely defend Justin Timberlake who was arrested for DWI.  Gayle barfed out the following which has me wondering if she's been sniffing copy machine toner. Or was she paid to say it since she's never interviewed Justin?  Read More

'Listen, this is clearly a mistake. I bet nobody knows it more than he does.' Defending his character, Gayle continued: 'He's not an irresponsible person. He's not reckless, careless. He's a really, really great guy. He simply made a mistake".

Comment: A mistake is when I forget to buy toilet paper. Or the one time I was in a hurry to do a load of laundry and didn't see a blue sock mixed-in with a load of whites. What Justin did was deliberate. He could have called a taxi, Uber, or had one of his friends drive him. But nooooo. He knew he was intoxicated and decided to get in his car and drive without regard to the safety of anyone else. I'm sure Gayle would be gargling a different tune if Justin would have slammed into her (or her house) in a drunken stupor and said, "oops...I goofed".  Piss off Gayle and take Justin with you.
