OPEN POST: In Which We Bravely Battle The Monday Blues!

How do you fight against the Monday Blues (sans drugs or alcohol)? And, yes, Monday is a frizzy-haired redhead because I say so. We are all La Liz. 

Terrible, trying, no mercy Monday. Or Mehday. Or Mondayitis. Or Bare-Minimum Monday. Or Monday Mourning and Monday Massacre. And my favorite, Monday Moaning. Does Thursday have this many slang terms? I think not! Or as The Mamas and the Papas say, "Monday, Monday, can't trust that day. Monday, Monday, it just turns out that way."

If, after voting for him in 2016, someone had come out and said they had regrets, one of my favorite old German friends, Schadenfreude, would have paid me a visit. I would have enjoyed their pain, their sorrow, their humiliation, but after they finally woke up, I still would have needed to see them make amends, do better, and educate themselves. I wouldn’t have befriended them or wanted them in my life. That’s asking too much. But I could have appreciated their remorse and horror at being so wrong and stupid. I wouldn’t have been sympathetic because ignorance is not an excuse when their orange messiah’s irredeemable psychopathic behavior was on full display and had been for decades. Eventually, I might have been able to tolerate them. Beyond those initial feckless fools, no MAGAt deserves grace, kindness, forgiveness, understanding, or any shred of decent treatment. OPEN POST: "Project Hail Mary" (a review)

I saw "Project Hail Mary" ( in the theater! ) last night and I loved all two and a half hours of it (it's even better than "Cats" )! I've been hearing about how good it is, but I had no idea what it's about (I hadn't seen any ads, probably because my tv's always on MeTv and most of the ads are for term-life insurance), but it isn't a religious film, it's sci-fi, but not drearily dystopian or aliens committing horrors. I can't remember any movie where I've smiled so much all through it. A brief precis: something molecular called astrophages are eating up the energy of the sun, which could lead to our planet's extinction, as well as other stars in our universe, except for one star. A ship has to be sent to that one star that hasn't been affected to figure out why, and to stave off our own destruction. Sounds pretty grim, huh?  Well, it ain't. Open Post: The Kids Are Not Alright: Looksmaxxing. WTF Gen Z?

What are these problem children up to now? Um…Nothing good so it seems. For those who haven’t paid attention because the “you in danger girl” meme silently distracted you from absorbing this knowledge with cute kittens and puppy algorithms, then I am sorry to be the one to have to drag you out of protective, blissful ignorance. I am sorry. I am.  To put it bluntly, Gen Z wins the most absurd generational trend category in a landslide. Just look at Gen X. Their entire youth was an exercise in survival of the fittest; Darwin’s theory was in full effect.  One friend remembers eating bowls of cereal and pouring milk from cartons with the faces of missing kids with "have seen me" on them. Basically, a latchkey kid is home all alone and decides a bowl of cereal sounds good, but some authority thought that advertising that bad shit happens to kids while kids make a bowl of cereal was an ace idea. Maybe the vulnerable child knew little Timmy before the bad man in the van got him....
