OPEN POST: The Joy of Hunkering Down

I don't know about my fellow Peckers in the Northern hemisphere, but the last two weeks I have found myself largely wanting to be at home in my bed, staying warm and safe from the increasingly colder weather outside. It can sometimes bring about feelings of guilt about being "lazy" by not wanting to do activities I used to engage in during the warmer months, even though it seems to get dark outside before I even get off work! I was recently reading a BBC article talking about embracing the cozy side of the winter months by wearing comfy pyjamas, wooly socks, sipping on warm drinks, lighting candles, all those Pinterest-style cozycore images you see floating around. The Danish concept, "hygge" gained a new wave of popularity in recent years. It is defined as "a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being." How pleasant is that? Let's raise a warm mug of apple cider to celebrating the simple coziness of the season.
