Who is July's Shitbag of the Month?

Our first Shitbag contender of the month is Usher. The R&B singer and herpes superspreader made the news this month when he kicked a fan offstage at one of his shows. Part of his performances involve inviting "lucky" ladies onstage to sit down and have Usher perform erotic gestures on them while he sings. Most fans thoroughly enjoy the experience, however the fan at this Nashville show sat there frozen and seemingly uncomfortable. Usher did not appreciate being rebuffed, so he waved her off and ordered security to remove her from the stage. Considering this is a combined tour with Chris Brown, I guess we should at least be grateful Usher respected the fan's personal boundaries. Colour me shocked!

Second up is Jared Leto. It's about damn time. For over 20 years, rumours have swirled about the 54-year old actor's sexual abuse of underage girls. Finally, it seems the floodgates may be opening. In an upcoming BBC documentary, four women have come forward who are alleging sexual assault, threatened sexual assault, sexualized grooming and statutory rape at the hands of Jared Leto. The four victims' claims were backed up by former coworkers who witness the alleged abuse firsthand. Many claimed that Leto would procure underaged girls at his concerts. This should come as a surprise to no one, and hopefully more women will feel empowered to finally share their own stories.

Third up are Kim K and Kuntye. These two have found themselves floating in the Peckerwood toilet many times, but this time it's to do with their offspring. North West, the pair's 13-year old daughter, had to cancel her 14-date tour with 21-year old rapper, Molly Santana, this month. North didn't give a reason for why the tour was cancelled, but she said she has "something special" planned for fans in the future. Hey, maybe I shouldn't be so quick to judge North's parents for buying her a music career that enables her to have a tour at the age of 13. Maybe they cancelled so they can enroll her in school? Shame she can't attend Kanye's now-defunct Donda Academy, y'know, after all those lawsuits and all. Well time will tell what amazing accomplishments are in store for North. I am sure there will be many.

Fourth is the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The museum's Costume Institute has just announced that the 2027 Met Gala will honour designer John Galliano, complete with a Spring 2027 exhibit of his work. 'Memba him? The man who openly praised Hitler MULTIPLE times? Who received a criminal conviction and got fired from Dior over it? Yeah, that's the one! The Institute insists that they "won't shy away" from Galliano's racist and antisemitic past, but the show will consider how "artistic achievement should be understood alongside ethical accountability." Whatever that means. Naturally people are upset over this designer being honoured, especially amid a rise in antisemitic and racist attacks taking place in the US right now. What a bad look, but are we surprised?

Last up is Phoebe Gates, the 23-year old daughter of Bill and Melinda Gates. Gates and her business partner, Sophia Kianni, designed a personal shopping browser extension called Phia in 2025. It was designed to lead users to the best deals for clothes and fashion accessories. When someone used to the extension to purchase something, Phia would earn a commission from the retailer. However, Bloomberg has just reported that Phia has been collecting commissions on items that were not, in fact, purchased via the extension. The company engaged in a practice called "cookie stuffing" whereby the extension would open up a background tab and drop its own cookie when users made a sale, while even overriding existing legitimate referrals. When confronted by Bloomberg about this illegal practice, a Phia spokesperson claimed that it was due to "technical anomalies." Sure, Jan. Despite denials, it appears Gates knew about the "coupon auto drop" feature since at least December. Time will tell if she will face any actual repercussions (spoiler: she won't), but this is not a great look for the final boss of nepo babies at the young age of 23.
