Who is August's Shitbag of the Month?

Our first contender for August Shitbag is Eli Roth. The horror director and Greta Thunberg bully faced backlash this month when he admitted that he'd used generative AI in the production of his latest film, Ice Cream Man. In an interview with popular digital media site Polygon, Roth discussed his background in animation and shared how he approached the design of certain scenes in the film. He says he drew out the scenes he wanted and worked with an animation team to help match the style of 1920s Mickey Mouse cartoons. Sounds good, right? Well he later clarified that "a very small portion of a few scenes in the film" used generative AI. Roth, who has directed movies like Hostel and Cabin Fever, has successfully used practical effects and garnered a cult following of his work. So it's no surprise that fans are disappointed that he's using technology that is draining natural resources at an alarming rate while also taking away work from human artists in the industry. The film has been panned by critics and currently has an abysmal IMDB rating of 3.8/10. Yikes.

Second up is Oprah. In a recent interview with Emmy magazine, the 72-year old discussed the criticism she's faced for giving Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz platforms. Both of the doctors have had huge success on their television programs, and then they both went on to publicly endorse President Shitstain. In fact, Dr. Oz serves at the White House's administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Winfrey, who endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, claims that when she first met Dr. Phil she thought he was "so down to earth, so practical, so real." And we also have to thank Gayle (because of fucking course she has to be involved) for introducing Oprah to Dr Oz in 2004. Oprah says that "everybody has their own path in life, and it has not one thing to do with me, and I don't have one thing to do with them." So everybody get off her back, OK?! Now that she's skinny she can't carry all the weight!

Third up is Kim Zolciak's son, Kroy "KJ" Biermann. The 15-year old broccoli head has found himself in serious trouble this month after being slapped with several charges, including aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy and false imprisonment as well as three counts of sexual battery against a child under 16. I am not going to go into further details about the allegations because they are awful, but these are being brought forward by a teen girl who was a friend of Biermann's girlfriend at the time of the incident, which took place in a co-ed sauna at a gym. Biermann naturally denies all offences and an examination after the incident provided no male DNA evidence on the alleged victim, so his lawyer is claiming this is a "he said she said" situation. Due to the seriousness of the charges, Biermann is being held without bond and will be charged as an adult. His lawyer says the allegations are all false and is working to getting him tried in juvenile court.

Fourth up is Mel Gibson. The 70-year old anti-semite recently attended FanExpo Canada to promote the sequel to his 2004 film, The Passion of the Christ. While walking onstage to do a Q&A, an ASL interpretor was communicating with the audience via sign language. Gibson starting mocking her with his own hand movements while he approached his seat. Video of the incident was shared online and Gibson received criticism for being so insensitive. He has since apologized, saying "sometimes when you get pushed out onstage in a spotlight your mind is all over the place, and sometimes thoughtless idiocy is displayed." That basically describes his whole career, no? 

Our last turds are Selena Gomez and her mother, Mandy Teefey. In 2021, the pair, along with a woman named Daniella Pierson, founded a mental health startup called Wondermind. They told investors that they would be developing an app with tools designed to provide users with mental fitness practices and tools. They promised advertising deals and celebrity cover stories, none of which came about. Investors gave the founders nearly $1.2 million to help Wondermind rapidly build a full suite of offerings, including the app, a podcast and other wellness products. They also believed Gomez would be directly involved the marketing of the company, leveraging her loyal fanbase to support its endeavours. However, none of these promises came to fruition and investors were kept in the dark about the true state of the company. So naturally they are suing Wondermind and its founders for securities fraud, common-law fraud and breach of contract. Danielle Pierson categorically denies the accusations and "welcomes the opportunity to present concrete documentation and financial records that establish the facts." Gomez and Teefey have not publicly commented on the suit.
