The 70s Were a Different Time! Old Photos of Madonna Released
Madonna, Taking a Bow (Peter Kentes/Coleman-Rayner) |
Once upon a time, Madonna was just a young dance student at the University of Michigan with dreams of making it big and not Baby-Janing her legacy into a plumpy, eyebrowless tragedy. And while she managed to accomplish at least one of those feats, much like her ass in the picture above, it's still up in the air whether or not the she'll be able to redeem her global icon status - and some say a lot of that depends on whether or not her previously scheduled tour moves forward. But if you ask former ballet classmate and friend who hasn't seen or spoken to her since dropping her off at an airport in 1979 Peter Kentes, he's certain "She'll conquer the health issue and make sure she puts on the tour." Thanks, Pete, you would surely know better than anyone.
Uncle Randy, I mean Peter, also talked about how "open and trusting" Madonna was while being photographed (oof), and that he found her "energy" and "very outspoken" ways to be quite attractive. "Her sort of brashness, you know, I just found that quite endlessly entertaining, and it didn't really put me off like it did with some of the other older dancers." Cut to Woody Allen's entire catalog throwing its hands up in the air shouting, "I know, RIGHT?!"
Peter, now 72 and still teaching dance at the university, recently shared intimate photos and video he took of Madonna in the late 70's during their time there together. Back then he was a 28-year-old grad student while she was just 19 years old, and I already know what you're thinking - gee, he sounds like the kind of guy that probably looks a lot like one of my dad's friends we had to call "uncle" who used to tell me what an old soul I was when dad went back in the house to grab another Busch Light. Well, I'll let you be the judge.
"Wow, you're so mature" |

Still, Peter says that while they had a few romantic moments, they were not lovers. However, unable to keep from oversharing, he confessed, "We did take a shower together. And we did kiss." He also admitted that he "would have taken it further" but knew it wouldn't last. Ah, right. THAT'S why it didn't go any farther, because ol' Pete was just chock-full of restraint - NOT because Madonna was a bright, budding 19-year-old just toying with an Uncle Randy whose gigantic boner for her was in direct proportion to her ego. Release the Sure Jan gifs!
