The original 1973 Exorcist is getting a rebootish trilogy. Why??
First of, I had no idea a reboot /sequel was in the works to the original 1973 The Exorcist, let alone a trilogy. Since the original movie was released almost 50 years ago, there has been a crapload of awful sequels and even a TV series made and all of them have failed miserably. So why the heck does Hollywood think rebooting a classic and then to add insult to injury, make it a trilogy is a good idea? Do Hollywood execs think people will be clamoring to see this garbage? Answer: Hollywood doesn't have any integrity. They keep tampering with the classics because studios are lazy. The movie industry has turned into an assembly line of cheap goods. Rant over.
The Exorcist: Believer is a rebootish sequel to the original 1973 movie that starred Ellen Burnstyn, Linda Blair, and Max Von Sydow. In this new sequel, Ellen Burnstyn reprises her role as the mom to Linda Blair's character of Regan, the daughter who became possessed by a demon. BTW, Linda Blair is not in this mess. The sequel has Leslie Odom in the role of a father whose daughter and a friend go missing in the woods. When they return several days later, all hell breaks loose. Leslie is forced to seek out Ellen Burnstyn for help. You watch the trailer above.
I was a tater tot when the original Exorcist was released. I eventually saw it when I was in college and it scared the living shit out of me. I refuse to watch it again. It's a classic movie and one of the best horror movies ever made. The movie was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won 2. If you've never see it, I recommend watching it with the lights on and a vial of holy water next to you. Also, don't plan on sleeping afterwards for several days.
The sequel opens on Friday, October 13 (how unoriginal). The second movie in the trilogy, The Exorcist: Deceiver will be released sometime in April 2025. No date has been set for the third - and I have no idea what it will be called. I think it should be named The Exorcist: Satan Quits this Shit
