Starting her career in Italy, where she became a major TV and movie star, she was later mentored in the U.S. by Sammy Davis Jr., with whom she had an affair, and exploded like a heaven-sent supernova across Broadway stages and U.S. TV screens in the 70s and 80s. Vegas called, of course, and for a time, she was the city's highest paid performer, dubbed "The First Lady of Vegas." Sadly, she was soon after sidelined by multiple sclerosis in the early 1990s, but at 81 years old, she's still kickin', and in my book, still every inch a star.
