EVENING NIGHTCAP: "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter Is Dead" Reboot Trailer. Mike Bites 2.0. Uber & Lyft Saying "Bye" to Minneapolis?
► The reboot of the 1991 classic movie, "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter Is Dead", released the trailer. The reboot premiers on April 12. The original starred Christina Applegate and Joanna Cassidy. The 2024 reboot features Simon Joy Jones (who plays "Tanya" but in the original movie the character's name was Sue Ellen played by Christina Applegate) and Nicole Richie in the role of "Rose" which was played by Joanna Cassidy. The reboot follows the similar plot except this time the mom flies off to Thailand and the cast is entirely Black actors (except for the babysitter). Personally, I would have had the mom jetting off to The Maldives. Thailand is too humid. But that's me. Anyhoo, the trailer is below. Read More
Comment: The original movie was hilarious! Christina Applegate and Joanna Cassidy had great comedic chemistry. Everything about the original movie was wonderful. Since I hate reboots, I doubt I'll watch this. When it hits Netflix or a free streaming channel and I find myself bored, I might check it out. I dunno.

► Disgraced boxer Mike Tyson is looking to capitalize on his infamous 1997 ear biting incident with boxer Evander Holyfield. Back in 1997, Mike and Evander were in a match for heavy weight champion title when Mike chomped down on Evander's ear, taking a chunk of it off. Yea, he's a sicko. Anyway, Mike will be selling, "Mike Bites 2.0", a new cannabis edible in the shape of an ear. Ewwww. Gross! If I'm going to get high, it sure as hell won't be from snacking on a cannabis ear. The edibles will come in 3 flavors: Black Eyed Berry, Sour Apple Punch, and Watermelon. The edibles will be sold on his online store and at select dispensaries in NY. Read More
EDIT: Back in 2022 Mike and Evander partnered on a line of gummies called,
"Holy Ears". It's not his first foray into ear chews. Now that cannabis edibles are more popular, Mike is trying it again with CarmaHoldCo. and Hudson Cannabis Co. and calling it (2.0). Some of you referred to a Dlisted story about this back in 2022. Mike is now selling these new 2.0 in NYC dispensaries and online. I hope that clarifies it for folks.
Comment: In case you're interested Mike Tyson will be fighting the butt boil known as Jake Paul later on this year. The fight will be on Netflix. Maybe this time Mike will get a craving for a nose and bite Jake's schnoz off. I actually hope that Mike Tyson beats the snot out of Jake Paul.

► Uber and Lyft are saying, "Bye Felicia" and exiting the Minneapolis market. It all started when the City Council passed a new ordinance that guarantees a pay raise for drivers. Drivers have been complaining they're underpaid and not treated well by the companies. If this goes into effect, Minneapolis will be the first major city in the USA without a rideshare company. According to reports: Read More
"The bill, to go into effect on May 1st, would establish a minimum pay of $1.40 per mile and $0.51 cents per minute for rideshare drivers, with a $5 per ride minimum. The city council voted to override the mayor’s veto of the ordinance, prompting Uber and Lyft to threaten to leave the region in response."
Comment: I don't blame drivers for wanting higher pay. If Uber and Lyft do leave, I'm sure taxi drivers will rejoice. I've never used a ride share service. It's too risky and too many horror stories. I prefer to use taxis. At least they have to undergo rigorous background checks and also a driving test.
