PECKERWOOD'S WEEKLY LUNOCRACY POST! For the Week of 5/05/2025
"Australia’s election was headed towards a conservative coalition," said The Economist last week, "but since Trump returned to the White House, Australians have watched in horror as he abandoned Ukraine, started a global trade war and purged tens of thousands of federal employees. This has given the Labor Party a boost ahead of the election on May 3rd. It is a remarkable reversal." Crikey, that's good news for them. Meanwhile, and this is sort of off topic, but will someone kindly explain to me why Aussies vote with cardboard boxes, as pictured above? It's charmingly old school, but that can't be the real reason, right?
Anyway, the "remarkable reversal" came to pass. Hurrah for Oz! Oh, and also fuck you and your father's moustache - and you, too, Canada. Or, no, sorry, I meant to say, "Gosh, we're thrilled for you guys. No, really. We’re so tickled you learned from our mistakes. If you're happy, we're happy. Can't you tell?" Who will next learn from America's mistake? Americans? Maybe. Though be forewarned, the midterms are a year away - so hold tight. Or as Kamala Harris warns, "Things are probably going to get worse before they get better." Excuse me as I roll into a corner and beat up a duck. Why, you ask? Because I. Don't. Like. This. At. All.
