PECKERWOOD'S WEEKLY LUNOCRACY POST! For the Week of 8/18/2025!

Did you hear? For RepubliKKKans, making things up is the new "alternative facts." Wheeeeee! Don't like the chances of winning the midterms? Redraw and make up new districts which favor your candidates. Don't like that your heralded meeting with Putin was a big flop? No biggie. Just say it was a big hit. Such fun! But that's just the beginning. Everything can be fudged: job reports, health data, crime stats, even our nation's own history. Think the courts are going to help bring a stop to this?

Think again, because the John Roberts Supreme Court is here to help. In fact, in my estimation, John Roberts is doing more to dismantle democracy than Mitch McConnell, Ronald Reagan and Trump combined. Think I exaggerate or give Roberts too much credit? Consider first his court's 2010 ruling, or "Corporations are people," and look further through his court's almost total destruction of The Voting Rights Act, along with allowing any illogical and destructive Presidential whim through the Shadow Docket. All of this has enabled what the likes of Reagan and McDonnell and their cronies could only dream of, and which Trump is merely using to his advantage. Somewhere Ruth Bader Ginsberg - who Obama begged to resign so he could replace her before she died - is being slapped. If I could join in, I would. But whatever, Ruthie. Your ego was more important, amirite?

Meanwhile, here are a few articles you may have missed out on this week.

1. Speaking of "alternative facts," brother, can you spare some shiny new economic statistics? Read more RIGHT HERE.

2. As for Canada, she is politely pulling a Joanne the Scammer by saying, "Thank you, but mainly no, thank you" to 'Murican booze, and, yes, our distilleries are hurting bad. Read more RIGHT HERE.

3. I'm not sure what RFK, Jr's end game is. Cause hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths? Clog up the health care system with hundreds of thousands of ailing people? End up costing the government itself untold ka-jillions? Such fun! Read more RIGHT HERE.
