Who is January's Shitbag of the Month?
Our first SBOTM contender is Pursuit of Slappyness star, Will Smith! The 57-year old is being sued by professional violinist, Brian King Joseph, who claims Smith "deliberately groomed and primed Mr. Joseph for further sexual exploitation" in March 2025. During Smith's global tour, Joseph claims that he returned to his hotel room one evening and there was evidence that someone had been there while he was gone. He found wipes, a beer bottle, a backpack, HIV medication, and a note addressed to Joseph from someone named "Stone F" who claimed they would be returning later that evening, "just us." He was subsequently fired when he raised the issue with Smith's management. Part of the lawsuit includes wrongful termination and retaliation.
Next up is Timothy Busfield. The West Wing actor was indicted by a grand jury on four counts of criminal sexual contact with a child under 13. These allegations stem from his work as director on set of the TV series The Cleaning Lady from 2022-2024. The alleged victims are two twin boy actors from the show. Busfield's attorney alleges that the boys' mother was seeking revenge after they were replaced on the TV show. He also claims Busfield was just tickling the children and described the set as a "playful environment." Busfield turned himself in to police and was later released, pending trial.
Third up is Kiefer Sutherland. The actor was arrested this month after it was alleged that he entered a ride-hail vehicle in LA, then physically assaulted the driver and made criminal threats against them. The driver did not go to the hospital for their injuries and Sutherland was later released on bail. The 59-year old has long struggled with alcohol addiction and this is not his first run-in with the law. He has been arrested several times for DUIs, and also physically assaulted fashion designer Jack McCullogh at a Met Gala party back in 2009.
Our fourth finalist is Julio Iglesias. The bronzed singer has been accused of sexual assault by two of his former live-in employees. The women allege that Iglesias subjected them to non-consensual sexual contact during their time working at his properties in 2021. They reported that he would call them into his room and force them to engage in sexual acts with him, often times in the presence of other staff members. Former employees allege that when hiring staff, applicants were required to submit photos of themselves and recruitment prioritized hiring young women. Employees also allege that Igelasias maintained "an atmosphere of control and constant harassment."
Last up is Oprah's bestie, Gayle King. The astronaut faced criticism this month when she shared a screenshot of a recent plane ticket she'd purchased showing she would have a window seat, only to be confronted with the abject horror of not getting a full window to herself! King made a video whining about this ordeal, saying that she complained about this living nightmare to a flight attendant who was "very nice" but apparently did nothing about the issue. Poor Gayle!
