OPEN POST: It's 1955 And The Chase Is On!
Saw this '55 Thunderbird the other day, and my gosh it was short (it looked almost child-sized)! Lots of great films in 1955, but one of the weirdest was " The Sea Chase ," starring John Wayne (as a WWII German ship's captain who really doesn't like the nazis too much) and that tramp Lana Turner as a sorta nazi spy who eventually turns out to be a swell egg. It's not a great movie (or even a good movie), and neither star bothers attempting a German accent, but inexplicably it was a massive hit. The only reason to watch this ridiculous film is to see Lana (who never looked Lana'er) looking fabulous in Warnercolor, with not a lacquered hair out of place, and wearing a spectacular gown by Moss Mabry , even as the ship's getting shelled and their future's looking grim.
