...they say you gotta make lemonade . Well, I don't have any lemons, and I'm all out of taco shells. Sometimes you have to improvise--in this case, by using nacho cheese corn chips to make some truly splendiferous nachos!  What does any of this have to do with that poor, misused '63 Mercury up top? OPEN POST: The Sunday Roast featuring the indispensable Cardboard Box

  Getty   Happy Sunday, y'all! I awoke to the news that Vancouver has evicted crooked little techbro mayor Ken Sim, and my old friend Sean Orr has received more votes than any council member in history! Both very well-deserved. Nothing like starting your day with good news.  In other news, my life is currently nothing but boxes and bags and donations and empty closets and drawers. So for today's Sunday Roast we are featuring the unglamorous but indispensable cardboard box! Where would we be without them? As with so many useful items, it's an American invention, and a comparatively recent one at that, making its first appearance in 1871.  You can read up on the entire history at this unexpectedly fascinating packaging website .
