OPEN POST: It's 1955 And The Chase Is On!

Saw this '55 Thunderbird the other day, and my gosh it was short (it looked almost child-sized)! Lots of great films in 1955, but one of the weirdest was "The Sea Chase," starring John Wayne (as a WWII German ship's captain who really doesn't like the nazis too much) and that tramp Lana Turner as a sorta nazi spy who eventually turns out to be a swell egg. It's not a great movie (or even a good movie), and neither star bothers attempting a German accent, but inexplicably it was a massive hit.

The only reason to watch this ridiculous film is to see Lana (who never looked Lana'er) looking fabulous in Warnercolor, with not a lacquered hair out of place, and wearing a spectacular gown by Moss Mabry, even as the ship's getting shelled and their future's looking grim.

So since it's Wednesday, let's all do our level best to be as idiotically glamorous as La Lana in such improbable circumstances. Someone's a jerk to you at the convenience store? Fling a pastel chiffon scarf over your shoulder and flounce away in a huff! Someone at work's a dick? Spray some Aqua Net on that platinum blond helmet and flip them the bird while you do it! You can do whatever you want, darlings--after all, it's Open Post!

Getty Happy Sundog, possums! Today we have a tale of Tommy, he of Two Mommys. STAB Rescue Awww, who's a gooboyyyyy? Tommy is! You can see it from his Petfinder profile right cheer . One thing you will notice right away is that Tommy, currently being fostered with two mommys from STAB Rescue , (Facebook here ) is too much dog for any one man.  Or any two men. Or any number of men. And possibly an indeterminate number of bears as well. Tommy, you see, has had bad experiences with men throughout his young life, and needs females as his humans; additionally, he needs two because while he's a gooboy as previously established, he's just too much dog for one single person. And so it said in his listing, quite clearly. Now, how do you get two females? You ask for lesbians, and he did. Possums, the internet lost its freaking MIND! Tommy had to stir from the sofa and take to the keyboard to smack down the BIG FEELS HAVING boychilds of the interwebs.  Tommy the pit bull seeks two moms...

OPEN POST: It’s Spooky Season!

  ABC Well hello there, boys and girls but especially you boys! Autumn is at its height, the leaves, they are a-fallin’, and as the darkness swallows the light, a sniggering laugh whispers on the wind.  Who can it be? Why, it’s everyone’s favourite force of nature and (barely)  closeted druncle, Paul Lynde, with his fabulously exotic entourage! The Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton), Witchipoo (Billie Hayes), and, of course, KISS, were all bit players in a show that was really all Paul.   ABC “Marrying Paul to Halloween seemed like a good idea, because there was something essentially witchy about Paul Lynde.” Bruce Vilanch The Paul Lynde Halloween Special  from 1976 is something I was never allowed to watch as a child for reasons that escaped me at the time, but now that I’m in my crone era there’s nobody to stop me.   Yes it is Caturday, but it's also Mean Girls Appreciation Day! For the uninitiated, October 3rd is referenced in the iconic movie when Cady Heron is writing about her crush on Aaron Samuels.
