In Praise Of: The BATTLE OF THE NETWORK STARS!

Image
Why praise? Because to paraphrase Tallulah Bankhead after seeing the rushes of her close-ups in "Die, Die, My Darling," I'm older than God's wet nurse! I remember "Battle of The Network Stars," and they were EVERYTHING to this little blond homo. Where else could you see little Joanie Cunningham competing at gymnastics against "Barney Miller's" Abe Vigoda? Or see the know-it-all eldest sister from Eight Is Enough kick-boxing Robert Urich right in his meaty crotch and then doing a victory dance over his prone, writhing body? Or Linda Evans fighting an exfoliation deathmatch against Joan Van Ark? (okay, maybe that last one didn't happen but it should have!) Those were the days, my friend, I hoped they'd never end! Just check out the sheer STAR WATTAGE in this clip! I mean, could you just? Robin Williams, Dave Letterman, Val Bertinelli, Bill Shatner, the adorable LeVar Burton (pre Geordi La Forge), and Gabe Kaplan. Also Robert Conrad, Tim R...

OPEN POST: Robin Williams Grows Big For Teri Garr In Shelly Duvall's First "Faerie Tale Theatre!"

Image
Did you know? All episodes of Shelly Duvall's charming "Faerie Tale Theatre" Showtime series are free to download at The Internet Archive , including the first episode, "The Tale Of the Frog Prince," which stars Terri Garr as a petulant princess. Also on hand is Robin Williams, who first appears in a skintight green leotard as a frog, then transforms with a single kiss into his furry self, wearing a wig that's likely from The Raquel Welch collection.  The digitized episodes are excellent quality (far superior to the ones on YouTube) and each one is chock-a-block with starry guest stars.

OPEN POST: Happy "Invite An Alien To Live With You" Day!

Welcome to the weekend, hookers! We're going to start things off right by slipping on our sexiest space attire in an effort to entice all those intergalactical studs looking for a good time! After all, it's Invite An Alien To Live With You   Day, and we are nothing if not an inclusive bunch of floozies. Invite An Alien To Live With You Day  was founded in an effort to remember the four-year-long sitcom Mork & Mindy  starring Robin Williams and Pam Dawber . And let me tell you, little Sebastian LOVED Mork & Mindy. Originally appearing on Happy Days  clearly after Fonzie jumped the shark, the character of Mork (played by Robin Williams) was an alien from the planet Ork who arrived on earth in an egg-shaped spacecraft. He quickly shacked up with Mindy (played by Pam Dawber) of Boulder, CO, and late 70s/early 80s cheese ball hilarity ensued. Na-nu, na-nu, bitches!
