Who am I kidding, it's a stressful day. My thoughts are with all the US Peckers. Godspeed.

And please note, today's Open Post will be a (relatively) peaceful, non-election Open Post for those who very wisely requested it. Let's just say that tonight at the Manor's "Booty Bang" lounge and dinette, the singer DJ Li'l Scratch will be playing, who first hit it big in the 1950s, is the epitome of sweetness and light. If you're looking for lewd innuendo or dirty-minded growls (You: "Always," Me: Same, bitch"), then you won't find them here - and I mean that in a good way. Especially now, in the brutal heat of summer, we could use some breezy, carefree, and yes, innocent, music, don't you think? Me, too?  And truly, there's no one more breezy and carefree than Joanie Sommers. Wheeee! Peppy Joanie had a varied career from the 1950s through the early 80s, going back and forth from jazz to standards, and with the advent of rock 'n' roll, pop-rock tunes. OPEN POST: Featuring This 1938 Cadillac Series 65 Sedan!

This one looks kind of odd to me. I saw it a while back about a block from my workplace and it's an earlier vintage than I usually see. The finish seems strangely matte (to me, a Caddy needs to be souped-up, glossy and gleaming), but still, it's pretty sweet (if rather bulbous).  In 1938, some of the top films were "Jezebel" (starring the astoundingly talented Bette Davis ), the Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece "The Lady Vanishes," Norma Shearer in "Marie Antionette" and one of the truly most enjoyable films in history, "The Adventures Of Robin Hood" starring Errol Flynn. And the legendary Ella Fitzgerald had a #1 song that year with "A-Tisket, A-Tasket:" So come on, let's hop in that big boat of a car and hang out at a glamorous nightclub.
