Six More Alleged Victims Come Out Against Lizzo, But Will Hollywood Stars Stick By Her Side?

When it rains it pours. Where there's smoke there's fire. Pick your cliche. But six more alleged victims - and perhaps more - have stepped forward, all of them making the exact same claims made just one week ago by the dancers who sued Lizzo for sexual harassment, fat shaming and creating a hostile work environment.

Also just one week ago? Stars as varied as Li'l Nas X, Jamie Lynn Spears, Kelly Osborne, Jennifer Garner, Jameela Jamil and drag performer Kahanna Montrese expressed their unwavering support for Lizzo, the latter exclaiming on Twitter, "Lizzo created one of the most uplifting shows I've ever been a part of. Please don't let this define you, Lizzo!" But has it already? Will it be so easy to forget the charge that Lizzo purportedly ordered her dancers to eat a banana protruding from a stripper's vagina? Or reportedly forbad the dancers from taking bathroom breaks during a torturous, hours-long "re-audition?"

And will it be so easy to forget the stars who ostensibly jumped the gun by offering "likes" and heart emoji's on Lizzo's Instagram post? The post has been her sole comment on the potentially career-ruining debacle. "My character has been criticized," she wrote. "Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations, but these are as unbelievable as they sound." Which prompted Kristin Chenoweth to offer her unstinting support by writing, "Keep your head up high, girl! You know who you are. Ignore. Delete. It will be over soon." Yet "soon" may not be soon enough. Lizzo's latest appearance, as part of the "Made in America Music Festival," has already been abruptly cancelled.

So what's a celebrity to do? Support their friend or remain silent? Plenty of celebrities rushed to Jussie Smollett's side when he falsely claimed to be assaulted by racist goons crying out, "MAGA!" And, yes, even Harvey Weinstein had his many supporters just after he was revealed as a serial rapist by "The New York Times," including Judi Dench, Oliver Stone, Lindsay Lohan (snort), Tony Denison and fashion designer Donna Karen. Do you say nothing? Wait? Or go all in and publicly stand by your chum/employer/future employer?

It may not matter in this instance. If more accusers step forward and collectively win their case, Lizzo's career will be over, at least for the foreseeable future. For those casting a side-eye at this mess, it's very much worth noting that no criminal charges have been filed against Lizzo, and she's not being investigated by criminal authorities (yet). The lawsuit she's battling was filed in civil court, in which the punishment, should she be found guilty, is cold, hard cash.
